Filemón y Baucis,
Baucis
and Philemon were the only ones to welcome the Zeus and
Hermes Gods, when they came disguised as ordinary peasants
and asked the people of the town for a place to sleep. They
shared the little they had, embodying the prious exercise
of hospitality. Zeus turned Baucis and Philemon's cottage
into an ornate temple and granted the wish to live together
forever as guardians of the fire. Upon their death, they
were changed into one oak and one linden trees.
